The Callisto Protocol is the latest game to join the PlayStation Plus trials program, granting subscribers unfettered access to Striking Point Studios' horror game for an hour before buying.
It will be available, as usual, to subscribers of the most expensive $17.99 a month PlayStation Plus Premium tier, which grants trial access to a growing list of games including God of War: Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part I, and more.
The Callisto Protocol’s 60 minute trial is relatively diminutive compared to the duration of other titles included in the program, but should still grant a prospective buyer valuable insight into the game.
Following its somewhat rocky launch the action horror title has received a number of updates, bringing new aesthetic content, death animations, a permadeath mode, and a wave-based riot mode to the game.
June 27 also saw the release of the Callisto Protocol’s Final Transmission DLC, which Striking Distance Studios billed as “the heart-pounding final chapter” to the main game, which ended on something of a cliffhanger.
In IGN’s 7/10 launch review we described The Callisto Protocol as “a satisfyingly gory spiritual successor to the Dead Space series”, but noted that it’s “more of a striking modern mimic than a scary new mutation”.
