Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC Get More Info at Nintendo Direct

Nintendo revealed lots more info for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's DLC, the Teal Mask and the Indigo Disk, during today's Nintendo Direct, including new areas, characters, and more.

The Teal Mask is coming this Fall, with a focus on a festival in the countryside. We got a look at new additions to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Pokédex roaming the overworld, as well as a look at new characters Carmine and Kieran. The previously-revealed Loyal Three Pokémon look to play a big part in the expansion's story, as well.

Then, we got an extended look at Part 2: The Indigo Disk, which takes place at Blueberry Academy, a futuristic academy in the middle of the ocean. This is the battle-focused expansion, which showed plenty of trainer battles set at the new school. We saw classrooms, new students, and a new Terarium area to explore.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's expansions were previously revealed back in February, with Nintendo confirming that it will be adding 230 returning Pokémon across the two expansions. The new legendary Pokémon Ogerpon will also be available alongside three other monsters: Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti in the Teal Mask.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have struggled mightily with bugs since releasing last year, with Game Freak releasing several patches. In our review we wrote, "The open-world gameplay of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is a brilliant direction for the future of the franchise, but this promising shift is sabotaged by the numerous ways in which Scarlet and Violet feel deeply unfinished.
