Nintendo has announced that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is getting a limited edition OLED Nintendo Switch console.
Announced during today's gameplay presentation, the console will be released slightly earlier than Tears of the Kingdom itself on April 28. This is fairly standard practice for Nintendo, as the console does not come with the game installed or in the box.
A limited edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller was also announced, featuring a black and white design again decorated with gold patterns and the Tri-Force in the background. Completing the collection, Nintendo also revealed a Tears of the Kingdom themed carry case for the console. These will both launch alongside the game on May 12.
As shown in the images above, the Switch includes a white and gold docking station decorated with the Tri-Force. The Joy-Cons themselves have a base gold colour, with the left one decorated in a green pattern and the right with white, similar to the dock.
This will be the first fully-fledged Zelda themed Nintendo Switch console as Breath of the Wild launched alongside the base red and blue or grey hardware, though Skyward Sword HD did get its own special Joy-Cons.
The gameplay presentation from Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma was announced yesterday and showed roughly ten minutes of gameplay from the highly anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel. This was our first time seeing an uninterrupted chunk of gameplay from Tears of the Kingdom, which shed more light on the world, its destructible weapons, and more.
