Let the black helmet of the Sith Lord descend upon you and encase your world in darkness with the virtual reality episodic adventure story Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series. This three-part episodic VR game series uses technology created by ILMxLAB to deliver an authentic Star Wars VR experience that takes you to familiar, foreboding parts of the saga as it delves into the tormented life of Darth Vader. IGN has reviewed the first and third episodes of Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series. Episodes of Vader Immortal are out now for download for PC (Oculus Rift S) and Oculus Quest, with a PlayStation 4 VR compilation due out in the Summer of 2020. Its mechanics are simple and nearly ubiquitous among VR games but refined well enough, and the story is a serviceable excuse to run through them. Lightsaber combat could’ve used more than one main enemy type to face off against, especially in the final scene, but it does feel and sound wonderful for a short while.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/11/25/vader-immortal-a-star-wars-vr-series-episode-iii-official-trailer"] Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series - Episode 3 Review VERDICT: Vader Immortal Episode 3 finishes out the Star Wars VR series with a dull thud. If this weren’t a Star Wars game it would be pretty unremarkable – the decent lightsaber-on-lightsaber combat is barely used this time, and using Force powers and weirdly unsatisfying blasters to knock down an endless parade of Storm Troopers gets old very quickly.
