A new patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment shows what appears to be the PlayStation 5’s controller.
As first spotted by VGC, the patent was published on the Japanese Patent Office website today, noting that the patent has been issued. The illustrations in the patent show a controller that is largely identical to the DualShock 4 used for the PS4, albeit with a few significant alterations.
The body of the controller appears to be slightly larger/chunkier than that of the DualShock 4, with grips more akin to the shape of the Xbox’s controller, rather than the almost tube-like shape of the ones on the DS4. The light bar has been removed, and a USB-C port added. The triggers also appear a little bigger than those on the DS4.
